Ruin & Wesen Drumm

drumm-shot1

Once in a while you get to know people a little bit over the interwebz and IRC, like Ruin & Wesen, who have started making some extremely interesting hardware as well as software. Since they are such nice guys, they have this nifty little FM drum synth, made in SynthMaker. This sentence got me quite excited: “At the moment we are focused on manufacturing the MIDI controllers, but Ruin has been whipping up VST synthesizers in SynthMaker to prototype future products”.

I certainly hope to see some interesting hardware, their MIDI stuff is simply brilliant.

E&MM Spectrum

I recently had the luck to find a Siel I’ve never even heard about. I wish it was more like the E&MM Spectrum, which I hadn’t heard about either. It was sold as a kit synthesizer. Seems to be a 2-osc mono. Wish I could lay my dirty hands on it..

Amen Brother: the b-side that changed the world

via mobius32.

This isn’t news, but still, I can’t help but be fascinated by the tiny little things that changed music as we know it. Hardware like Roland TR-808, 909 and Tb303 have certainly had a big impact on the electronic music movement. The Winston’s  1969 single color him father had a b-side that became legendary: “Amen, Brother!”. The Amen break must be the most used sample ever.

This video tells you some details about the history of it.

iDaft

Yes. Very stupid, yet cute and quite time consuming.. iDaft is a flash app, that let’s you trigger the vocoder / talkbox samples from daft punk’s harder, better, faster, stronger.
